ok so what you are saying, you are old as dirt? A bunch of old folks in their walkers and wheel chairs playing mmo's? Then let's switch gears and talk about the stuff that really matters like fiber drinks, the high cost of health care, and adult diapers. Almost any subject and you really want to choose small talk about the weather... really? So how many grandchildren do you have?

I'm pretty in pink.

Furnace coming on... That is probably going to make my electric bill higher again. Not cool. I am liking these $48 bills...

no I meant older in the sense that we have been around for many years on guru--check out the join dates. (but yeah we do talk about hearing aids and glasses and canes occasionally as well----not to mention the skyrocketing cost of health insurance--you DONT want to go there again.)

yeah, change on kind of bill for another---electric goes down, gas goes up (and electric stays high )

just had my day of frustration----when I was a kid I was in the hospital for either encephalitis or meningitis...though since I was only 12 at the time--no one ever told me what it was, well now that I have 'other' problems doctors have been asking questions and I went 'in search of' the answers (where is leonard nimoy when you need him)...my dad died many years ago, my mom--well, she wont be answering any questions anymore....so I thought--GEE I could CALL THE HOSPITAL and ask them...well.......they dont keep records for more than 10 years now ...with all the technology we have to store data, they destroy it in 10 years! (waay back in the 80's one of my first jobs was to transfer patient records onto microfiche....that can be kept in a small box for hundreds of years, why cant hospitals do this???? and with usb drives 32 gigs or more the size of a thumb???) I was just very flabbergasted to find that they no longer have the information......so I guess I will never know....hope I really dont need that information ever.

I am pretty sure in most places of business they are required by law to hold records for up to a maximum of seven years. So in reality 10 is pretty good. However with most places going green and paperless, you would think they could hold on to data longer. Maybe archive it on an a DVD. I have a lot of DVD archives dating back to 2005. Crap I am still hanging on to old 95/98 games in the off chance they might work again some day.

Encephalitis or meningitis... either one sounds bad no matter how you slice it.

@I pwnd U: We heat with electric because it is actually cheaper than natural gas. In the winter the light bill rockets up but not as much as a gas bill. The first year we switch over 2 years ago, the gas man came out to 'inspect' our meter. Then he realized we only use the gas to cook with and most of the time I use the microwave. LOL

that's not what I found....when I lived in Boise, during the winter our electric bill went thru the roof (and we only had a one bedroom apartment at the time). Gas is much cheaper to use for heating. Though it does depend on where you are. (gas was not available in Boise).
Our gas bill here is small during the summer since we only have it for cooking as well, but it doubles or so during the winter since our furnace is gas (electric used to go down pretty good during the winter).

Where I live there is a big coal burning plant that supplies the area with power. The gas company charges for delivery (the use of the pipes) and then a bunch of other fees before the actual gas itself. Natural gas is abundant, it is not refined and has no connection to crude oil. However every time the price at the pump goes up, so does the natural gas. Meanwhile coal, wind, and water electric are cheaper and easy to produce.

Since the area is flat and we live on a bay, I wouldn't mind them putting up some wind generators but the coal plant is blocking it. They claim it would put people out of work. Imo that all depends on the methods. The coal plant is at least clean, in the fact that they don't put out that black sooty smoke. But I would still like the wind generators to lower the cost.

I think my heat runs on gas, but I'm not sure. It's my first year in this apartment so I haven't had to have the heat on yet. And here gas is more expensive than electric but I'm not sure how heating is going to go. I'm good sitting in my apartment with pants and a hoodie on so I won't have it up at like 70 or 75. It will probably stay around 65 when I'm home and 60 when I'm gone. Though I am in an upstairs apartment so hopefully that will help.

The cooler temps will actually be better for your computer equipment. Heck, I would sit around the house in an environmental suit and let the temp drop to 45 if I could get away with it... ah screw 'em I think I will do that this winter.

yeah our computers like the winter better than the summer (hubby has an old computer) we have the a/c set at 80--if it gets hotter hubby's computer dies. I dont think I would want to look at my utility bills if I were to get it to 80 here in the winter!

My old computer didn't do so well in cold weather... It sat by a window that let air in. The cold air made it lock up. Of course that was when it was like -10 F out... Ya...

Same here my computer is faster in the winter. Speaking of winter does anyone's feet smell like Dorito's after taking out a snow boot?

Chicken was pretty good. Just the kind you put in the oven. Nothing special but it was yummy.

@Junato: Dorito's seriously? I wouldn't have too much of a problem with that oder but you might want to cut back on the junk food. My oldest brother had/has stinky foot oder and he soaked them in tea to get rid of the smell.

@I pwnd U: My batter for chicken strips;

1 cup ap flour
1 egg
2 Tablespoons white vinegar (crispy)
1 cup water 8-12 oz (thick or thin)

Cube or strip the meat and deep fry at 375.

My sister has had both bad and good experiences on there. As a seller you have the down side of people getting PayPal to stop payment after getting merchandise. The flipside sometimes you don't get exactly what was shown. There was a guy who sold her a USED CD and said it was brand new.

ebay--been on it for years. had paypal before ebay bought them out. heck I was around when you had to send checks/money orders to people!
I have had mostly good experiences (buyer), however, if you ever have a problem --they WONT help you....I found it best to use my cc to pay (thru paypal) that way IF I have a problem I can call up the cc and have the charges disputed (thru paypal will take months). The few sellers I have talked to say that if they have a problem its a royal pain to get anything done thru ebay---easier to try to resolve with the buyer than them.

yeah I have gotten some stuff that wasnt quite what was shown/described, but mostly sellers know we can leave feedback for them, and if their numbers (sellers) drop too far then their costs go up and with enough bad feedback no one will buy from them.

its good to be cautious.

lol pwnd....you had to READ the instructions on the box :dump on oven safe pan, cook for 10-15 minutes, remove and eat! dont know if a college grad is capable of that!
